Day
Thirteen
I
hate my MIL!!! Just had to get that our first. Scott kept his job, but
both his manager and co-worker from his department got their notices.
He's relieved that he has kept his job, but he has already started complaining
about how much more work it will make for him, since he will be doing
a lot of their work too. And because he is on salary, he won't get paid
for overtime. But I told him now is not the time to be asking for a raise
for doing extra work, or they will just hand him his own walking places,
and find someone else who would be more than happy to do the job for probably
less money. My mother-in-law came over for dinner, mostly to be nosy like
usual. She came over right while we were having dinner, which I KNOW she
does so she can make some critical remark about what I made for supper.
And since I wasn't expecting her, it was a KD night, of all things. The
kids begged me, and since I know they have been worried about all the
tension in the house, I decided to give in. I should have known better!
After Scott finished telling his mother about who got canned and who was
left behind, his mother piped up - and directed her comments to Scott,
like I wasn't even in the room - "So, Scott, has Janelle given up
this silly notion of her of selling door to door?" Well, I already
knew that woman was stuck in the dark ages, and that confirmed it. Door
to door? She has never been my biggest fan to say the least, so I should
have known better than to tell the truth about what I was going to do
while she looked after the kids the other day. She totally sabotaged all
my efforts. Then she called essential oils "quackery". I was
so mad I didn't know what to say! And Scott totally sided with her. Now
I'll have twice as much work to convince Scott that I should do this.
I didn't dare tell him it costs $249 - especially not with MIL there too.
What a perfectly rotten ending to a perfectly rotten day.
