An "Office" For Your Child Setting up an "office" for your child or children is a valuable investment for your business success. When your children are too young to really be able to help with your business, you can still let your children feel that they are valuable and that their work is worthwhile. You should have a small desk set aside just for your children. The most important thing is that the desk is scaled to fit a young child. If it is simply an adult desk, they will not feel that it is truly their very own desk. Next, you should invest in some basic supplies. Depending on their age, you can have construction paper, scissors, glue or paste, crayons or felts, and stickers. Another great addition to a child's office is real business cards. These can be quite plain, and you can make business cards on your printer, or get them professionally done for as little as $9.99 at a big box office supply store. These can easily be saved for a birthday or Christmas present, or given as a reward. Children feel so grown up with their very own business cards, and believe it or not, they will take their own "business" seriously. You can even invent a business for your child, based upon their skills. It could be something as simple as "Ariel's Masterpiece Artwork" or "Jacob's Creative Cards". You can make up appropriate letterhead and envelopes using your computer, and even design a simple logo (or have your child create one for you, then scan it into your computer.) You can print letterhead on the back side of paper destined for your recycling box to save money. When you can have your child work alongside you in your office, not only will you be spending quality time together, you do not have to worry that you might be ignoring your child in order to get work done. After all, your children are the reason you want to be able to stay at home and work.
