Keeping Track of Sales at Craft Fairs Whenever you attend a craft fair, you will want to keep track of what sold and for how much. You will also want to note and highlight anything you sold out of, whether it be the entire stock of an item, or a certain color or style of crafts. You should also record any additional expenses you incurred for exhibiting in the fair. This would include:
At the end of the season, you should be able to determine the bottom line (the profit you made after all expenses are paid) for each craft fair. This will also help you determine the most successful shows for you to participate in the following year. Be sure to include information about signing up for a booth, table sizes, etc. A year later, all the craft fairs will be the same in your mind, unless something about a certain one was unique in comparison. You will also want to note if any large order came from a contact made at any of the fairs (both retail and wholesale, if applicable). Each worksheet should be completed within a few days of the fair or show ending. If you wait until the end of the season, you will not be able to differentiate the details from each fair for your sheets to be as accurate and useful as possible. Once each sheet is completed, it should be placed in your workbook, so you can reference it easily for the following craft fair season. |
