Marketing Through Banner Exchanges Many small mom-owned businesses have begun using banner exchanges as a way to increase traffic. This is also a very cost-effective advertising route, as you are not paying for anything (unless you need a banner designed) since it is all done on a reciprocal basis. But when designing a banner ad, or having one designed for your business, it is important to keep several things in mind. Animated is fine, but flashy is not. By flashy I mean something that flashes from image so quickly it would give me a migraine. Instead, stick with a two image animated GIF that has at least two to three seconds between each image. Simple is best. Do not try and cram too much information into a banner with a too-small font. Limit it to your business name and a short but sweet statement. Honor your exchange. Have your banner available before the planned exchange begins, and put the other banner onto your site when you say you will, if not sooner. And go back and double check to make sure the link works correctly. By following these tips, your banner exchange will fare much better, and draw in more customers. |
