Using Photos on Ryze for Advanced Business Networking You have set up your Ryze page, signed guestbooks and maybe even joined a community or two. But there is far more to Ryze than the basics, and you can easily put Ryze to work for you, far beyond the basics of setting up a page and signing guestbooks. Start by adding your picture to your profile. You can do this on the left navigational bar by clicking on pictures. You don't need to have your own web space for this picture, you can upload it from your hard drive right to Ryze. This is the picture people will see as a thumbnail on your profile, so keep it professional, such as a nice headshot. Professional quality of the picture isn't as important as the professional image it will convey of you and your business. If you are using Ryze to network for you business, a picture of you in a bikini is not appropriate, unless you happen to be in the business of weight loss or fitness. Likewise, a picture of you lounging around with a boyfriend or hubby isn't appropriate either, unless you are in the pajama business together. For many, this picture will be the first time many have ever seen what you have looked like, and first impressions are vitally important. The next photo you add should be your business logo, which you can link to your company webpage. This should appear as close to the top of your Ryze page as possible. Business promotion should be front and center on Ryze, making it easy for people to see your business and click to your website. Now, you have the whole rest of your page. So why not add more photos? Ryze offers you free hosting of your images, as long as they are 200K in size or less, and in gif or jpg format. What kinds of photos should you include? Again, think from a professional point of view. Do you sell bath and body products? Why not include the cover of your catalog, and link it directly to your online store? You can also include pictures of some of your best selling products, and include a description of each one, along with direct links to that product in your online store. What about personal photos? So many of the Ryze sites I have visited have so many personal photos that the networking page loses its true goal of networking fo the business. If you have decided you really want to share all 30 pictures of your cute kids, why not include one or two photos, and then offer a link to an online photo album where you can share the remaining 28 photos with those who are interested. Don't forget, even though you and your relatives think your kids are absolutely adorable, that potential customer or client may feel it is overkill to have to scroll through 30 photos to get to your guestbook. What about photos from your trip last winter to Hawaii? Or your holiday to Italy? For business networking purposes, you shouldn't include these kinds of pictures, unless your business or company paid for your trip. Many direct sales companies offer trips as incentives for top consultants. If you got a trip this way, it is appropriate to include one or two pictures with a caption along the lines of "As a top consultant with XYZ, I was able to earn a trip for two to London!" or "Three years after starting my own business, I was able to afford a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Greece for my entire family!" When you add your images to your page, are they showing up much larger than you would like? If so, click on the photos on the left hand side of your Ryze page, and then click on the Resize link which appears on the left hand side of the photo you would like to resize. You can then choose the pixel size you would like your photo to be, and then press the "resize photo" button. I'll see you and your
