Brainstorming a Business Idea

Would you love to start your own home business, but just simply have no idea what kind of business you should start? Many moms find themselves in this position, or they are just so overwhelmed with all different businesses that they don't know which one to choose.

First off, when you have some time to yourself, sit down with a pen and a pad of paper and start brainstorming. Write down all the different home based businesses that sound interesting or intriguing to you. Even if it initially sounds crazy, write it down anyway. Some of the best businesses started out as someone's crazy idea first.

Then look at your list carefully. Go through them in your head and choose the ones you think would be the best for you - for whatever reason.

Next, consider the ones that made the cut. Write each business on a separate piece of paper, then write down all the pros and cons for that business. And if you have any brilliant ideas or plans about any of the businesses, write them down too.

Then, leave your list for a day or two. When you go back to it, usually one of the ideas will jump out at you as being the one. It is that one that you should then go and fully research, to make sure that it is one that you can successfully run (both financially and logistically).

Be sure you file away everything from you brainstorming session in a safe place for future reference. You never know if it will come in handy one day!
