Costume
Rental Business
When considering a costume
rental business, many potential business owners think that the rental
business is only alive during the month of October, but dead the rest
of the year. But actually, nothing could be further from the truth.
While Hallowe'en is the most
popular costume renting time of the year, do not overlook other holidays
- Santa & Easter Bunny costumes are wildly popular. And many people
have masquerade or theme parties throughout the year, not just at Hallowe'en.
Your costumes should be quality
costumes - not the $14.99 variety you find in discount stores. If you
are a good sewer, you can make the costumes yourself, or you can hire
the job out to someone to make different assigned costumes you feel would
rent well.
Be sure to have each client
sign a contract when renting a costume. You should spell out deposits,
pick up and return times, what happens if a costume gets damaged, late
fees, and just about anthing else you can think of. Then you should review
your contract once per year (preferable in the summertime) so you can
make any changes or additions for the busy Hallowe'en season.
