For
the Dogs
Pet businesses are extremely
hot businesses right now, but it takes a very special person to run one.
If you harbor a distaste of slobbery dogs, a dog daycare probably isn't
the best for you. But if you love all kinds of pets, perhaps a pet sitting
job would be perfect. And do you already make your own Fido gourmet organic
dog treats? Then a dog bakery business is a possibility you should explore.
When many couples started delaying
their own families until their thirties, many of these couples had pampered
pooches instead. And since they did not have kids to spoil rotten... you
guessed it - their pets were the recipients of all the spoiling. And let's
face it, many of these dogs eat better than you and me!
Now is the perfect time for
starting up your own pet related business, and there are many varied pet
businesses you can start, some with just a minimal budget. And even more
ideal, they can be home-based to maximize your profits.
Dog
Bakery
Freshly baked dog biscuits, rolls, cakes and more are
flying off the shelves of pet stores in a few towns, but unfortunately,
many towns and cities do not even have any resources for purchasing these
delectable goodies, other than ordering online. You can bake the treats,
then deliver them directly to clients, pet stores and coffee shops. And
you can package special doggie gift packs together for the holiday season.
You can also eventually expand to include a line of cat treats, horse
treats, or whatever other pet seems to be a favorite for spoiling in your
area.
Dog
Daycare
Not surprisingly, many owners do not want to leave their
dogs home all day while they work. Several years ago, dog daycares began
popping up. Dog daycares differ from dog kennels in that they only offer
care during daytime working hours - no overnights are included in the
business. You play, interact and walk with the dogs for the day, and supervise
their interaction with the other daycare dogs. Owners pay up to $30.00
per day for this unique and profitable service, and daycares often have
such a demand that there can be thirty dogs all in "class" for
the day.
Pet
Sitting
Pet sitting primarily started for owners who wanted their
pets to stay in the family home while they were away on business or holidays,
slowly expanded to daytime visits for pets who needed medication or other
care while the owner's needed to be at work. It has now spawned a full-blown
industry of caring for pets in the home, keeping them from getting too
lonely while the owner spends the day at work. Duties vary, but essentially
all the business entails is caring for the pets in the household, something
that a pet lover would love to do anyway!
Do-It-Yourself
Self Service Dog Wash
Many owners find that they would like to easily be able
to give their dog a bath, but it is always such a hassle to chase the
dog through the yard with the shampoo and a hose, and a dog shaking off
excess water (not to mention the dog hair!) does nasty and smelly things
to a bathroom. But people don't want to pay professional dog groomer rates
for a simple wash and blow-dry. With a self service dog wash, people bring
their mucky mutt right to your business, and using your bathing station,
towels, blow dryer, shampoo, and more, are able to wash their dog without
all the hassle - and they pay you for it!
