Grant
Writer
Grant seeking is at an all
time high at this moment in the world with all the new businesses and
dot com's that are starting up everyday. A grant is basically money given
to you for your business that you do not have to repay in most cases.
There are many different organizations and small businesses that offer
grants to business owners.
As a grant writer you will
be trying to help small and/or larger businesses get a grant to start
their business. A degree or experience in business development and finance
will be very helpful. This will entail you sitting down with the business
owner and getting the hard facts about his business plan and model.
To start finding your clients
or to have them find you, start by advertising in small business journals,
business websites, business based message boards and the like. You can
also market your services to academic institutions and charitable organizations
and businesses that may not be aware of grant opportunities they could
be exploiting to help develop their programs.
Another twist for this business
model is to sell document templates for business owners to create their
own grants. Or you could even start a directory of companies, organizations
and groups that donate to small business start ups. You can generate money
through advertising avenues and so forth.
