As a house sitter, you will charge a fee for taking care of the house while the owner is away on a business trip or vacation. You will visit the house everyday and take in the mail and newspaper, feed the fish and the cat, water the plants and turn the lights on or off depending on the time of your visit.

*What you need: Referrals from friends, business acquaintances, customers and the like are essential in this business. The owner of the house will have to feel that you will protect his home and valuables. Insurance is an option you should contact an insurance agent and find out your possibilities.

You can advertise your business by means of flyers and by placing ads in your local penny-saver, grocery store bulletin board etc.

*Negative: This business may be more popular in certain areas such as up north when many migrate to the south for winter. In addition, this may be a good option for making extra money but not quite enough to do fulltime, although how you promote yourself is very important.
