Using Car Decals for Advertising Your Business

Advertising with your vehicle is something that has become more and more popular in recent years. And those who use them say they certainly produce many qualified leads as well as orders.

There are two types of car decals - the ones that "cling" to your vehicle that need to be removed with a heat gun, and magnetic signs which can be removed at any time, and even shared among multiple vehicles in the family.

Both types are popular. The decals are popular because they can be placed on back windows or on side windows, while magnetic signs are limited to the sides of the vehicle on the door. It is up to you to decide which option is the best for you. People report more sales and leads with the decal type, but you do have the limitation that it cannot be removed from the vehicle if you are going out on the town or somewhere else you would prefer to not have your advertising on your car, except by removing it permanently.

The most important thing about your decals or signs - regardless of what type you chose - is that you need to have the right information on it.

First, your website address is the most important thing. But if you have a consultant or affiliate style URL (ie.www.companyname.com/yournameorID/) chances are good that people will only go to companyname.com and not bother to type in your name. If this applies to you, register your own domain name (ie. www.myskincarebiz.com) and forward it to your consultant site.

Next, have a catchy slogan that sums up your business, whether it is "I get paid to party" or "I cook, I clean, I leave your FREE kitchen tools!" For more slogan inspiration, here is a thread on creating your slogan on our MyMommyBiz Message Boards.

Some will put their business name, while others do not... it is a personal preference. If it is a regular business, definitely put your name. But some consultants have mixed feelings over using their company name on their vehicle for advertising, especially if it is a well known one such as Avon. If you are advertising as a consultant, be sure to check for any vehicle advertising guidelines and be sure that what you would like to do is in compliance. You don't want to spend the money and then find out you were not permitted to use the company name.

It is up to you whether you want to put personal details, such as your home phone number or name. Some will use a toll free number, while others will use a cell phone number.
