Hosting Your Own Contest

First decide the purpose of your contest. Will it be to grow your mailing list? Will it be for new customers, repeat customers or both?

Next, what will the prize be? We definitely suggest offering a gift certificate for your products or a sampling of your products. After all you are using this contest to get them to buy from you!

After you have decided the purpose of your contest and what your prize is, you should outline the rules for participation - this part is very important before promoting it. Do entrants have to be over 18? Can only entrants in the US participate? How many times can they enter; weekly, monthly or only once?

Now that you have all that out of the way, you can start promoting it! There are several free contest sites that you can list your contest on. Most of them are free and simply require a link back to their site, that's easy enough!

While it is easy to get people to sign up for a chance to win, the trick is getting them to stay on your site so before you launch your contest make sure your site is in full working order and you have lots of good stuffs to keep them interested!
