How Often
Should You Hold a Contest?
When you have the option or
prizes to run multiple contests over time, it can be hard to decide how
often you should hold them. Do you want to always have a contest running?
Or should you wait a few weeks or months between contests?
If you are offering the same
prize multiple times over (ie. the same book or the same product), it
would be best to have a set amount of time where you are not offering
a contest, whether it be for two weeks or a month. This is because it
can lead people to believe they have already entered, when they might
have actually entered for the same product two draws ago.
If you are offering the same
prize and do not want to have a time when you are not running a contest,
consider adding a second prize to it, so you can at least theme the contest
differently each time. For example, if you are offering an organization
book, team it up with a pair of hot pink rubber gloves for a "Spring
Cleaning Contest!". The following month team it up with an inexpensive
Feng Shui tips booklet for a "Fen Shui Your Way to Organization!"
contest. There are many ways you can spin it to make it seem brand new
with each contest, even when you use the same main prize and you have
many repeat visitors.
If you are offering different
products, there is no reason why you can't offer contests back to back.
And it doesn't hurt to remind people they can enter for each contest as
well.
