Advertising
in Weekly Newspapers
Weekly newspapers, often
printed as community newspapers can be a way to get leads for a business.
After all, the advertising rates are often inexpensive, and many businesses
can afford to advertise weekly, generating additional exposure - and
more importantly, the opportunity to get your business in front of potential
customers or clients for the seven times it often takes for someone
to react to an ad.
Begin by checking the classifieds
section. Is there an appropriate section for you to advertise in? If
you are a dog bakery or pet sitter, there might be a pet category. If
you are a nail technician, check for a beauty section. And if you are
offering a business opportunity, most newspapers have a section just
for that.
Also, check to see if there
are any classifieds-sharing among similar newspapers in nearby towns.
If they are owned by the same person, you can often get a steeply discounted
rate and have your ad appear in the community newspaper for nearby towns.
If there are similar advertisers
to you in the category, check to see how the placements are made. They
are often computer generated order, which means if your ad has more
words or lines, or begins with a letter of the alphabet that proceeds
the other ad (such as your ad begins with a D while the other ad begins
with an S) your ad will appear first.
