How Many Companies Should You Apply For?

When you see the list of companies you can apply for, how many should you apply for?

This is a difficult question with no easy answer. If you apply for only a handful of companies, you can discover that you might only get called for a job once a month, or even less frequent than that.

But if you go and apply for company after company after company, you could become so overwhelmed with mystery shopping job requests that you are simply unable to keep up. And the more jobs you turn down, the less likely that company is to ask you to do another one when a job does come up that you would otherwise be perfect for.

Start off by applying for 10 or so companies. Then depending on how many jobs you are offered, continue adding new companies weekly, in 5 or 10 company increments. You will eventually find a balance where you are offered a good number of jobs for the amount of time you have to devote to it.
