Show Not Tell for Higher Downline Success One of the biggest mistakes a consultant makes with her downline is falling into the trap of telling a recruit how to succeed, and not showing her. Recruits who are contatly told what to do quickly become disenchanted with the business and lose interest. Think about yourself. You don't like being told how to do something. You feel as though you are ordered or bossed around, and no one likes that feeling. But if someone shows or guides you how to do that exact same thing, you are much more open and receptive to the idea, and not likely to lash back as some would when told how to do something. You want to show your recruits how to do things, and never boss them about how to do it. Invite your new recruit to a show, so she can see how you run them. Let her listen to a few of your sales calls, so she has an idea of how they go. Help her come up with a list of cold call prospects. By showing instead of telling, you will end up with a more productive and a much happier downline.
