Spent the last 25 years in Coporate America, and worked as the CFO for a multi-million dollar Home Respiratory Care Company. Living the Driven Life, so to speak. Having enjoyed many aspects of it.
Prior to this I was in the modeling and fashion industry which is where my heart is. You know we all tend to do what we have to do and set aside the things we love to do. I've dabbled in various direct sales over the years, and it has always intrigued me. Have sponsored many women, won many trips. Always dreamed of going full time someday when my children grew up and my secure limited income would not be quite so necessary.
Last summer I made a decision to give up the rat race and prayed that God would send me to do his work. I'm not much for holding Bible Studies, classes or the such, but I do have a niche for encouraging, motivating and being there when someone needs to talk. Not knowing which way, or how, I just knew he would guide me in the direction he had in store for me.
One day in Sept 04, I read an advertisement in the local newspaper, "Purse Party seeking Founding Consultants". I read it a couple of times and then just set it down... I thought, how fun... Not really thinking anything about it. After a few days something kept tugging at my heart saying answer the ad. I would just put it out of my mind and move on. It was a couple of weeks later when it hit me, when the voice was clear... answer the ad.. I thought I don't know what I did with it. I'm sure I threw it away...but, did search for it and believe it or not found it... I read it again, and again. Something said answer the ad... I thought I can't do this, everyone is going to think I'm crazy, Sell Purses? after all I'm a CFO of a million dollar company... ANSWER THE AD!.. Finally I gave in an spent about an hour answering the ad, submitted it and said OK, maybe they won't call me... well not a chance... they called... I told my husband what I had done and he said "You can't d
o that, are you crazy" you can't give up your salary.... I won't, I told him, I'll start out part time and when our 16 year old graduates in the next year, then I'll consider it... He couldn't believe it... Well, it just so happens I'm right where God wants me to be today... I knew it after my first 2 home parties... After both parties ended, it became apparent to me... there were 2 ladies that really needed a shoulder to cry on, and I was there for them.
Yes the parties are great! The commissions are great, but what's even greater is My Prayers were answered. Here I am, and loving every minute of it. So when you believe that God has a purpose for you and you begin living a directed life through him, and not a driven life, then the blessings and opportunites are endless.
