The Eight Kinds of Direct
Sales Consultants
Where do you fit in? And where
do the consultants in your downline fit?
1. The Career Consultant
This is the consultant that is serious about her business. She works it,
and envisions climbing in the ranks of her company, if she hasn't already
started. She has no problems investing in her business, because she views
it as a long-term career, not short-term or a hobby.
2. The Catalog Consultant
This consultant prefers to do catalog parties only, and not go the home
party route at all. Fortunately, some of these can be turned into a career
consultant if they manage the leap to hosting parties.
3. The Part-Timer Consultant
Has no desire to achieve career consultant status, but is instead content
to earn a pre-specified amount every month to cover household expenses
or perhaps to save money for an event (such as a family holiday or Christmas
gifts).
4. Short-Term Goal Consultant
Needs to earn a specific amount of money, and will cease her business
once she reaches that monetary goal.
5. The Own-Best-Customer
Consultant
This consultant signed up specifically to get the discount on her own
purchases and/or to get all the goodies in the kit without paying full
price.
6. The Inner-Circle Consultant
Will do shows and catalog sales to her own inner circle, such as family,
friends and neighbors, but does not expand beyond her own inner circle
to gain new customers and hostesses.
7. The Multiple Company
Consultant
This consultant has more than one direct sales company she is actively
working, so she is generally not focussed solely on one business, but
spread over two or more different companies.
8. The Just For Fun Consultant
This consultant has fun doing parties, but tends to do them sporadically.
She doesn't go out of her way to work them or fit them into her schedule,
but loves doing it when she has one.
