Am I
Restricted in How Long My URL Can Be?
Yes, there are restrictions
on the length of URLs you can use. While you aren't restricted to length
by any "internet rules" you are restricted to the length by
Internet Explorer, which has the market share on internet browsers.
The current character limit
for Internet Explorer is 2,083 characters in length. Most would never
run into the problem of going over that many characters in the URL, unless
you are using some types of dynamic sites that generate lengthy URLs.
But even then, it does not happen often.
You can find more details on
URL
length restriction at Microsoft.
