For those who surf the Internet, pop-ups have become a way of life. Most people did not mind a single pop-up on a web site. But some sites employ advertising services as well as their own eternal advertising, it can't easily have six or eight pop-ups just for a single page on the site.While some people believe that the pop-up problem will die as pop-up blockers become more popular, the problem still exists for the immediate future. And those pop-ups can become quite annoying as you do your daily internet surfing.

You can purchase programs that will block most, if not all, pop-ups. The most popular products are Pop-Up Stopper, Ad-Aware Plus, and PopUpCop. And as an added bonus many of these programs offer additional security features such as clearing your browser history and cookies or a racing at your web browsing history.

Search Engine Toolbars
You can download the free Google and Yahoo toolbars which include a pop-up blocking feature. You can turn them on and off, and you can also allow pop-ups on certain sites while disallowing them on the rest. They also include other features such as search bars so you can easily do a web search without having to go to the search engine itself.

ISP blockers
AOL and earth link are two of the better-known Internet service providers (ISPs) that have pop-up blocking capabilities in their software. Some will also include added protection against viruses and include firewalls.

Do remember to find out how to allow pop-ups. Because sure enough the site you visit will use something that will bring up the new window in a pop-up size frame. However, most use the default action of holding down the shift key while you click the link to allow the pop up to display properly.
