Finding Balance when you are a Telecommuting Mom
You have finally landed that
work at home job you have been dreaming about
Now what?
One of the hardest adjustments
to working from home is finding an equal balance for your work, house
and family. The first thing you should do is organizing your time. It
is very easy to become distracted with the house and family and than your
work suffers, or vice versa.
Start out by keeping a detailed
journal of your day, this way you can see where your time is going and
make adjustments accordingly. Time management is essential when working
from home. Without a schedule you will soon find yourself frustrated and
overwhelmed.
Find a message board to join
so you have an outlet when you are frustrated and need to talk with someone
who understands. Talking to other wahm's can be very helpful in planning
your new schedule. Working from home means, not having co-workers to mingle
with. You can start to feel lonely and isolated. And our husbands usually
just "don't get it!"
Although you are now working
from home, be sure to get out of the house and get some fresh air at least
twice a day, even if it is just to the front porch. This helps to make
you feel more connected to the world.
My Mommy Biz recommends purchasing
the book, "Mom Management, by Tracy Lyn Moland." Mom Management
will help you plan you find time for you while helping you to organize
your life and create your goals. Every Mom should own a copy!
