Your Family So You Can Work
When you first start the telecommuting
job that you have waited months and months to land, it may not be easy
to make your family understand that you are indeed working. Don't let
this overwhelm you, it is important to stay focused.
When working from home it can
sometimes be harder than a job outside of the home. You are now faced
with balancing your time between your family, your house and your work.
Below we have listed a few tips to help you start out on the right foot.
Start by having a family meeting,
are there any chores that you can delegate to your children (if they are
of age to help that is)? It is important that your husband also understand
you will be busy and that he just may have to pitch in more around the
house, with the kids or even cooking the occasional meal.
Post your tentative work schedule
where your family can see it and know that you are unavailable during
these hours. We realize this may not be the ideal situation for everyone,
as many of us have toddlers. In the case of a toddler, set him up his
own little desk with coloring books, stickers and crayons etc. so he will
feel like he is working like Mommy is.
These are just a few tips to
help you find balance when you are first starting your new telecommuting
position. If you have any tips you would like to share with your fellow
Moms please come by the telecommuting board and share them with us.
