Can you
be a Telecommuter With a Mac or Linux?
Can you work as a telecommuter
if you do not own a Windows based computer? If you are running Linux or
have a Mac, you may find that there is a major restriction on the jobs
you can apply for.
When you have a Mac or run
Linux, many Windows-based applications will not run. And if the company
does not offer an alternative version of the application that will work
for your computer, you will need to either look for another job, or consider
switching to a PC running Windows instead.
If you do not own a computer
with Windows, look specifically for those jobs which do not require Windows.
If you are working on a browser based application, you may find that running
Internet Explorer on a Mac works fine.
If you are in doubt, apply
for the job, and do make a note in the application with the computer platform
you are currently running. Those who do the hiring will likely know whether
your operating system will be a problem or not.
